Our Mission

Our mission is to assist clients in improving overall health and establishing a healthy relationship with food and body weight. We use a variety of approaches utilizing clients’ history and personal background with expertise from a clinical and whole person perspective to develop individualized nutrition plans. Changing eating behaviors and thoughts around food can be challenging; thus our treatment approach is designed to aid in behavior modification while working towards better nutrition.

Shelly Starrett-Mangan

Shelly started Natural Balance Nutrition in 2009. Prior to private practice, she worked as a clinical dietitian in a hospital for nearly 8 years. During that time, she also began her work with eating disorders. Since 2005, she has worked at 2 eating disorder recovery centers that included Residential, Partial Hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient levels of care. She treats males and females of all age groups using a holistic nutrition approach. Shelly has extensive experience in nutrition therapy for the varying degrees of dysregulated eating and feeding issues. Her passion is assisting others in increasing health and restoring natural eating cues using a mind-body approach; thus creating a more balanced relationship with food and overall well-being.

Arielle Mize

Arielle

Arielle became a Registered Dietitian in 2017 and has been working with eating disorders and disordered eating since 2019, both at the outpatient and partial hospitalization level. Arielle works with both adolescents and adults, and meets her clients where they are at in their recovery process when it comes to treatment goals. Arielle believes intuitive eating is available to everyone and wants to help you free yourself from the joy-stealing grasp of dieting, disordered eating, and eating disorders so that you can live a joyful life that lines up with your values.

Arielle also has a background in helping women thrive in pregnancy and the postpartum period and is a Certified Lactation Educator.

Leslie is a Registered Dietitian dedicated to helping clients overcome nutritional challenges and achieve lasting peace with food and body weight through a balanced, non-diet approach. As a foundation of nutrition therapy, Leslie helps women and men regain trust in the body's natural ability to guide the eating process and break destructive eating and dieting patterns that interfere with health and living life! Leslie has several years’ experience helping clients struggling with eating disorders, chronic dieting and painful relationships with food and understands how challenging, even scary, changing eating habits can seem. As such, Leslie provides all clients with compassion, understanding and ongoing encouragement to support continued progress towards nutritional recovery. Additionally, with a background in sports and fitness, Leslie helps individuals struggling with harmful exercise patterns achieve balanced, healthy exercise habits and fueling strategies that support health and joyful movement. Leslie strongly believes in personalized nutrition care and practices a holistic, individualized approach that supports behavior change and healing of the body.

Leslie meets patients remotely via telehealth in the states of Washington and Texas. Please inquire for telehealth availability in other states.
